Reported by: Jeff Chirico Tuesday, Apr 22, 2008 @07:15pm EDT How much would you pay for a piece of presidential election history?
Get this - the top bid today on eBay for Barack Obama's half-eaten
waffle was $20,000.
The waffle was removed from the website this afternoon but not before it received nearly 40 bids. The top bid was a mind-boggling $20,000. It was for Obama's uneaten waffle and sausage from his visit to the Glider Diner in Scranton yesterday. And the description says it's authentic and claims the candidate's DNA is on the silverware. You may remember, Senator Obama ate at the diner in a last minute campaign stop before today's primary election. He obviously did more talking than eating and never finished his meal. The proceeds were originally said to go to the Hillary for President campaign. But late this afternoon, the owner of the Glider Diner told WBRE News his loyal customer who posted the waffle has decided to take it down. He worried it would reflect badly on Obama and negatively affect his campaign. There's no word what may happen to the waffle now that it's off the auction block. But you know that word, waffle, is never a good word in politics so perhaps it's best for Obama if he's not associated with that particular breakfast food. ![]() |
