NEW CLOTHES FOR SCHUYLKILL COUNTY Steve and Barry's --the affordable clothing retailer will open in the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville, this month. The retailer offers casual clothing for the whole family --including a clothing line created by actress Sarah Jessica Parker. The retailer is hiring at least 100 employees. Company officials say the 85 thousand square foot store should open by October 31st. SUPPERS FOR SALE IN DICKSON CITY In Lackawanna County, a new place for busy families to get a good meal --and it’s healthier than fast food. Super Suppers recently opened at the Target shopping center in Dickson City. The meal assembly company offers fresh or frozen entrees and sides for the whole family. Just call ahead or stop in but don't forget the cooler or laundry basket to carry the meals home. NEW MEDICAL CENTER IN HAZLETON In Hazleton, a new medical practice puts pediatrics and women's health services under the same roof. The health center officially opened in September on Airport Road. It's a partnership between Geisinger Women's Health Clinic and the Janet Weis Children's Hospital Partners . BIG BUCKS FOR BUSINESSES IN LUZERNE AND LACKAWANNA Governor Ed Rendell visited Scranton last month with his checkbook open. He gave 5 million dollars to help businesses in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties. The investment is expected to help expand local firms and attract new companies. Oxford Management Services, Chefs on a Roll, Lowes, Medico Industries and Solid Cactus all received state funding. SERVING MORE THAN JAVA IN WILKES-BARRE In Wilkes-Barre, David's Coffee Shop started brewing last month on New Market Street in the Heights section. But it's no ordinary shop. Owners Suzanne and John Joseph plan to make it a training site for autistic adults like their son. They hope it will create more opportunities in the workforce for those with autism. |
