Reported by: Jeff Chirico Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @06:14pm EST WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY – The Droid has landed. The Verizon Wireless store in Wilkes-Barre Township began selling the new smart phone this morning at 6.
The Droid will compete with Apple's iPhone. It has a touch screen and a full keyboard. It's the first one to be powered by Google's Android Operating System. And that has new Droid-owner, Thaddeus Jancewicz excited. He says “I already knew about the Android operating system. So when I heard about the Droid, I got shivers because I knew it had to have it." Rich Foster of Verizon Wireless says “you can do anything you want with this software it's customizable you can download anything you want, there's 1000s of apps you can choose from." The Droid sells for $199 with a two year agreement and mail-in rebate. ![]() |
