Angie hicks of Angie's List says, "Taking proper care of you car whether it's new or old is going to extend its life and help it get better gas mileage." Here are the five auto checks you shouldn't skip out on... 1. Oil Changes -Depending on your driving habits, oil should be changed every 3,000 to 7,000 miles. 2. Tires -You should rotate and balance your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles and get an alignment check every year. 3. Fluids -All fluids should be checked and topped off with every oil change. 4. Breaks -Your brakes should be inspected at least once a year and replaced every 20,000 to 30,000 miles. 5. Maintenance -Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. Hicks says, "It's really important to understand your car and understand what the manufacturer recommends so you know how to take of your car and to be sure the person that the person working on your car is following what the manufacturer recommends" Finding a good mechanic who is familiar with your car will keep you hitting the road without worry. |
