Event Details:HELP SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON
The Pet Platoon of Lewisburg, in conjunction with ©AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort, is once again sponsoring a “Stockings from Santa” campaign. ©AdoptaPlatoon (AAP), founded in 1998 by Ida Hagg of Texas, is a nonprofit organization managed nationwide by volunteers (platoon moms and dads) to ensure that deployed U.S. Service Members, in all branches of the military, are not forgotten. Since its founding, the organization has supported well over one million U.S. Service Members. To provide a better deployment quality of life, lift morale, and assist military families, various projects were created by AAP to meet their needs.
This holiday season, the focus is again on “Stockings from Santa” with the goal of filling as many stockings as possible to send to our deployed men and women. Proud platoon mom and dad Judy Humenanski and Dave Fumanti, of The Pet Platoon are asking for your help in filling stockings. Items such as the following are needed:
Energy drinks (packets only) or energy bars, candy, gum, beef jerkey, hand-held games, card or board games, DVD movies or TV shows, cold weather gloves, heavy socks, footballs, Frisbees, and packaged tuna are a few of the suggested items.
The success of AAP has been possible only because of the generosity of the American people. Please help our deployed troops. No matter your political opinion, our troops need to know that we care about them and that we will never forget the sacrifices they are making. To quote the founder of AAP, “We are home of the free because of the brave.”
Donations may be dropped off at: The Pet Platoon, Route 15 (across from Perkins), Lewisburg. If you have any questions, please call Dave or Judy at The Pet Platoon (523-7387).
