    Newsmakers To Air Sunday- June 28th- Topic "Straight-Up Program".
    The "Straight-Up Program" is this Sunday's Newsmakers Topic.

    “The Straight Up Program” will be the topic of this Sunday’s Newsmakers on WBRE-TV.



      The program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and Anchorman Andy Mehalshick.  

          "Straight Up" is a powerful presentation that shows where involvement with drugs can eventually lead.

           Jayne Ann and Andy will have as their guest Paul O’Malia and Al Ottensman founders of the Straight-Up Program.  Joining the panel will be Jeanette, an inmate currently serving time at Luzerne County Prison.  She will speak openly about her life and time in prison.

           The “Straight Up” program works in conjunction with Luzerne County Prison.  It is has been presented many times to students and community organizations.  It is informative and educational.

          The program will air on WBRE-TV Sunday, June 28 at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.  It will be repeated on WBRE on Sunday July 5th at 5:30 a.m.  The program will also air on our sister station WYOU Saturday, July 4th at 6 a.m.

    Newsmakers To Air Sunday-May 31st 2009-Topic Gangs
    Newsmakers will feature representatives from the Pennsylvania Gang Investigators Association on Sunday's Program. The topic is Dealing With Gangs In Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.

          The big city problem of “Gangs” is now a major concern in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.


        On this Sunday’s Newsmakers Program on WBRE TV,

    Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and Anchor Andy Mehalshick will take a close look at this topic.

         They will be join by Robert Maguire, President of The Pennsylvania Gang Investigators Association and Gary Smith, a Parent Coach and Luzerne County Representative of the Pennsylvania Gang Investigators Association.

         Maguire and Smith will talk about the presence of gangs in our area.  They will also tell the warning signs parents need to look out for to determine if their children are involved with gangs.  

    They will also talk about what action a community can take to combat the growing problem. 

          Newsmakers will air this Sunday, May 31st at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on WBRE-TV. 

    The program will be re-broadcast Sunday, June 7th at 5:30 a.m. on WBRE TV.

     It will also air Saturday, June 6th at 6 a.m. on our sister station WYOU-TV.

    Newsmakers To Air Sunday-Domestic Violence
    Domestic Violence will be the topic of Newsmakers on Sunday May 3rd at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

       Domestic Violence will be the topic of Sunday’s WBRE TV’s Newsmakers.




    Host Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda will have representatives from the Women’s Resources of Monroe County as her guests. 

       Joining Jayne Ann will be Lisa Brito Greene, Yolanda Garcia-Rutkowski, and Alma Ruiz-Smith.  The panel will discuss the various types of abuse, who the victims and abusers are, and how a victim can become a survivor.  Garcia-Rutkowski , who is a survivor will talk candidly about her ordeal.  They will also discuss the many programs offered by the Women’s Resources of Monroe County.

         The upcoming “Serenity Under the Stars” Black and White Gala that will benefit

    The Women’s Resources of Monroe County will also be discussed.

        This will be a very informational and educational program.

    Eyewitness Newsmakers to Air Sunday, April 5th, Topic Teen Driver Safety
    Teen Driver Safety is the Topic of this Sunday's Eyewitness Newsmakers.

     

         “Teen Driver Safety” is the topic of this Sunday’s WBRE-TV Eyewitness Newsmakers.



    The program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and Anchorman Andy Mehalshick.

        They will have as their guests Peter Quinn of the Northeast Highway Safety Program and Trooper Martin Connors of the Pennsylvania State Police Wyoming Barracks.

     

        The program will raise awareness about teen driver safety.  It will focus on the many factors that can lead to teen accidents including drinking and driving, speeding and using cell phones. 

       They will also discuss the Pennsylvania Graduated Licensing program.

       With prom and high school and college graduations approaching this program will have a lot of valuable information for parents and young drivers.

     Eyewitness Newsmakers will take a close look at Bullying in Our Schools.

       
    Bullying will be the topic of this Sunday’s WBRE-TV Eyewitness Newsmakers Program with

    Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and Anchorman Andy Mehalshick .


     Gary Smith, Parent Coach and Education Specialist and Gary Mack, Teacher and C.R.A.F.T program coordinator for Wyoming Valley West Middle School

    will join Jayne Ann and Andy.

        They will discuss the problem of bullying which is a growing concern in our schools.   Cyber-bullying will also be part of the discussion.

         Smith and Mack will talk about identifying if your child is a victim of a bully….or if your child is the bully and how you can help.

        The program will also focus on the C.R.A.F.T., (Communicating to Resolve Anger with the Family Together) program.  They will also discuss the new T.O.P.S. program that is designed for younger students.
