Brian Fitzgerald is the weekend meteorologist for WYOU. He joined the Nexstar family in 2006 delivering weather on our sister station WBRE.
Brian was born and raised in the northern suburbs of
New York City. Since a very early age he knew he wanted to be in the weather
business, so after graduating high school he attended the State University of
New York at Oneonta, where he received a degree in meteorology. Brian gained
experience quickly in the field of television through an internship he landed
with ABC’s Good Morning America show. It was there that he learned the ropes of
the business by working hands on with their weather department and being on set
at their NYC studio in Times Square.
After graduating from college Brian was
hired as a freelance meteorologist for News 12, a cable station serving the
surrounding suburbs of NYC. He found himself thrown right into the mix, covering
things such as the destructive 2005 hurricane season, the Blizzard of 2006 where
areas of Connecticut were buried with close to 30 inches of snow, and in June of 2006 he tracked a powerful F2 tornado tearing across Westchester County, which is
one of New York’s most heavily populated areas.
Brian is a big fan of history
and nature and can’t think of any better place to explore both of them then here in northeastern and central Pennsylvania. He enjoys all kinds of sports, spending
time with family and friends, and is always on the look out for new and exciting
things to experience!
