Doug
Currin is an award winning journalist anchoring WBRE Eyewitness News at 5AM 6AM and 11AM with Eva Mastromatteo and Kristi
Capel.
Currin's most recent stop was in Fayetteville, Arkansas
as senior reporter / anchor. Before that, Currin was the principal anchor
in Yuma, Arizona.
Prior to his on-air debut, Currin served as
one of many producers on the other side of the lens for CNN's "Wolf
Blitzer Reports," a pre-cursor to "The Situation Room."
At CNN, Currin
helped cover the war in Iraq, the death of President Ronald Reagan, the
capture of Saddam Hussein, presidential elections and congressional
events. Currin also worked briefly on "CNN's Late Edition with Wolf
Blitzer," "Judy Woodruff's Inside Politics," and "Inside Politics Sunday," all former political talk
shows based in the district.
Currin also had various internships
at Washington, DC and New York City television and radio stations. A
self-proclaimed news addict, Doug had the opportunity to meet and
interview such political newsmakers such as Vernon Jordan, Mike
Huckabee, Governor Mike Beebe, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.N. Ambassador Dr. Susan Rice, Jim Kuhn, Evan
Hendricks, Senator John McCain, Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, former President Jimmy
Carter, Gov. Ed Rendell, and other congressional and international leaders.
Currin
is a graduate of George Mason University just outside of Washington
D.C., where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism, and also
studied neurological psychology. Doug and his wife have two children.
