Candice Kelly
Candice Kelly is the weekday news anchor at 5:00, 5:30 6:00 & 11:00
pm on WBRE Eyewitness News.
She's no stranger to Northeast
PA. Candice first came to the area in 2004 as the weekend
Anchor/reporter for WBRE News. But in September 2006, she couldn't pass up the
opportunity to be a part of the area's only interactive newscast. She worked for sister station WYOU for nearly two years before returning to WBRE.
Candice got her start in television news after graduating
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Mankato State
University. She first
worked behind the scenes at KARE-TV in Minneapolis,
MN and then made the switch in front of the
camera at KTTC-TV in Rochester,
MN. While there, she was a
reporter, and an anchor/producer for the morning and noon newscasts. Not only
does she bring nearly 10 years of television news experience to the area, she's
also a two-time regional Emmy Award winner.
Candice is a huge animal lover and enjoys working with
animal shelters and humane societies. She's also an advocate for HIV/AIDS and
cancer research.
As a Minnesota
native, it was a big deal for her to pick up and move so far away from her
family and friends. But she doesn't regret it because this is where she met her
husband Tom. Northeast Pennsylvania is now her
home. It's a place she proudly shares with Tom, their two German shepherds,
Kyser and Ember, and their best buddy Chester the cat, who Candice rescued and
adopted off the streets of Rochester, MN.
