Good News: Abby and Chance Are Fine- Dog Survives Fire

By: Jayne Ann Bugda
Updated: January 25, 2013

Good news to share.   Thursday evening we reported on a house fire in Falls Township near Lake Winola.  The home belonged to Collin Morrison. At the time of Eric Deabill's report Collin told Eric his yellow lab Abby was lost in the fire. His other dog, Chance, was saved by neighbor George Yuhas who used an ax to break into the burning home.
Collin sent us an email tonight to let us know that his beloved dog Abby was found in the basement of the home during a final sweep by fire fighters.  According to Collin, because of water in the basement and a pipe that melted dog had fresh air and survived.

Collin sent us a photo of Abby and  Chance tonight.   The dogs were checked out  at the Bunker Hill Veterinary Hospital and are doing fine.  Collin thanked the fire fighters, his caring neighbors, and the Griffin Pond Animal shelter for their help.

Check here to see Eric's orginal report.
