Up for a night of Ravioli and Board Games?  Then mark your calendar for Saturday, December 8 in Duryea.

"Raviolis for Rabiolo" sounds like an interesting night of fun and games.  The family and friends of Kathy Rabiolo hope you will join them to help raise funds to help with medical costs for their dear friend, who is battling cancer.

The unique event will be held Saturday, December 8 at Germania Hose Company at 430 Foote Avenue in Duryea.

Kathy Rabiolo of Pittston is only 51 years old and has been undergoing treatment for cancer.  Due to her illness she has been unable to continue working.

"It's bad enough to find out you have this horrible cancer, but the expense of the uncovered medications, and the fact that she hasn't been able to work has made it so overwhelming," says Annie Rabioli, Kathy's daughter, one of the event's organizers.

    So, why ravioli?

"Whenever Kathy has to call for an appointment, or check in a the doctor's office, even though she spells her name out, 9 times out of 10 they think it's ravioli instead of Rabiolo.  This has been going on since she's had the name of course, but lately it's even more frequent.  She's developed a good sense of humor about it, so when we suggested having a ravioli supper for a fundraiser she was all for it," explains Shivaun O'Donnell, a friend a co-organizer.

The event is also unique in that people will be invited to play board games while there.  Kathy is known to be an enthusiastic Scrabble player, so those coming to the event will have the opportunity to challenge Kathy in a game, or take on any other participants in the event.

Other games will be available too.

A DJ will be there to provide music for event and there will be gift baskets up for auction.

The event will run from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday December 8 at Germania Hose Company 430 Foote Avenue in Duryea.   Ravioli will be served at 5:00 p.m., along with pizza, salad and desserts.

    Donation is $8.00.

If you are unable to attend you can still help out by sending a Donation to The Kathy Rabiolo Benefit Fund, 67 Public Square, Suite 500, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
