Pubs like this ... are the backbone of British food... So in honor of the summer Olympics in London, i thought it was appropriate to salute one of my favorite pub picks! It's a baked sandwich that's perfect for game watching (or really for anytime) here's how it's made...and yes, it's easy ...just watch! They take slices of a hearty white bread and place them on the bottom of a baking dish - okay, ya top them off with a layer of sliced deli ham, sprinkle on a generous amount of cheddar cheese, and top all that off with slices of bread that we buttered. Easy enough so far? Now here's what makes it really special... They pour a mixture over it, made from beating together some milk, eggs, dry mustard, chives, a bit of salt and pepper, and them sprinkle on even more cheese; and most pubs let it sit for about 15 minutes or so to let it all soak in, before baking it off. And when it's almost custard-like and the bread is golden...it's done! Imagine serving these English cheddar and ham baked sandwiches while watching the Olympics! Well, the recipe for my version of "Farmhouse Ham & Cheese Bake" is online now, perfect for not missing a bit of the action; 'cause instead of making sandwiches one by one, uh uh.... These bake up all at once! And with such a winning taste they'll earn you Olympic raves! Server: Here you go Mr. Food! Mr. Food: Thanks so much! So no matter where you're enjoying the games...here's to our team, may they bring home the gold, and reward us with loads of "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!! "
