Blakely, Lackawanna County- There are strict rules on the way into Senator Robert Mellow Park. It would stand to reason that the park's namesake be reminded he bent serious laws, and should see his name stripped from the park. That's at least the argument being made by some. But asking people in Blakely how they felt about the proposal proved to be a predictable sore spot. Most know the ex-senator who disgraced himself and his office. In November, he pleaded guilty to charges he used his senate staff for campaign work. He's serving a prison sentence in South Carolina.

On Wednesday, the latest wave of trouble for Mellow rolled ashore. He is accused by state prosecutors of shaking down turnpike contractors, rigging bids and pressuring people to finance statewide campaigns, including his own.

On Monday, Blakely Borough will essentially assess if there is any value in leaving Mellow's name on the community's park. The meeting will be held at the borough building.
