Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County- There is a possible shortage and it may affect your Super Bowl plans.  As the big game draw closer talks of a chicken wing shortage are swirling, but there is little evidence to support that rumor.  Cassidy Rhodes-Aniska of Wilkes-Barre says "wings are really good and it wouldn't be a fun party without wings."

Rhodes-Aniska knows how to throw a good super bowl party.  She, like the other customers we found ordering at The Anthracite Caf, doesn't believe that there will be a shortage of chicken wings come game day.

The Anthracite Manager Lauren Kaye says "I am not really sure what everybody is talking about. I do know this; there is definitely no shortage of chicken wings here."  We asked the chef why he thinks some people are worried their favorite finger food might not there for the picking and Sous Chef James Wood says "Super Bowl doesn't really have an effect on us because we sell so many wings in general, but other places now are probably ordering more with the Super Bowl.  It's like a holiday.  It's like the new Christmas."  He says wings are in a higher demand around this time of year, but adds that in his 3 years at the restaurant he only ran out of the super bowl favorite once.

At the Anthracite Cafe they are not really worried about a chicken wing shortage.  The customers we spoke to are just worried about which of the 45 sauces they are going to put on their wings.  Customer Michael Umphred says "I like a good hot wing as much as the next guy, ya know?"  Romayne Williams was also eating there and says "they have the best Cajun-rub wings I have ever had in my life."

All flavors a side one thing is for sure, when kick off comes you better be ready with a wing in hand.

The manager of the anthracite cafe did say that the actual restaurant is closed Super Bowl Sunday, but the good news for wing lovers is that they are open for catering that day.
