Moosic, Lackawanna County - After months of work, baseball fans will finally get a chance to check out the brand new PNC Field in Moosic this weekend.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will hold an open house Saturday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

While work is still underway officials say there is enough progress to open the doors to the public.

The team is excited to see fans reaction.

"We're looking to share with the community what we've been doing, how the ballpark is looking, how it's progressing so people can really understand that we've totally torn down the old place and we're building a brand new facility here," president and general manager Rob Crain said.

Ground was broken for the project last April but crews have been working double-shifts since early January.

The top level of the stadium is gone and now there is only one level of seats and suites.

Officials are not calling PNC Field a stadium anymore. They say it is a ballpark because of it is so open.

"You'll see from the ammenities from the open concourse to the 38-hundred square foot kids area to the lawn seating in the outfield, it is a wonderful ballpark," Crain said.

While the entire facility won't be open to the public Saturday because of the ongoing construction, a lot has changed in the last few weeks alone.

"We've shown all kinds of pretty pictures and all kinds of different renderings but until you actually lay your eyes on it, it's incredible," Crain said.

The open house is free and open to the public.
