MMI to hold Visitation Night

Updated: January 24, 2013

Freeland, Luzerne County- MMI Preparatory School will hold its Visitation Night on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m.

Visitation Night is an opportunity for those interested in an MMI education for their children to learn more about the school's advantages, including a low student-to-faculty ratio; SAT scores that are hundreds of points above local, state and national averages; and a variety of extracurricular activities.

MMI provides an independent school education for students in grades six through eight in its middle school and nine through 12 in the preparatory school. MMI fosters academic achievement, personal growth and a commitment to community service through development of intellectual inquiry, critical thinking and sound judgment.

Visitation Night will begin with a presentation by the school's administration, including Head of School Thomas Hood, and will include tours of the school. Families will also hear information about the school's curriculum, financial aid, extracurricular activities and other aspects of the MMI experience over light refreshments.

"Visitation Night and MMI's entrance examination are the first opportunities for students and parents to come to MMI and get a close look at our campus. Since this is the beginning of the admissions process, we encourage anyone who is thinking about an MMI education to tour our campus, learn about our many programs and take the entrance examination," Hood said.

One important aspect of MMI is the affordability of an independent school education. "Sixty percent of our students receive some form of financial aid," said Aprilaurie Whitley, director of admissions and financial aid at MMI. "Students can also earn academic scholarships to help with tuition costs based upon their performance on the entrance exam."

Hood said, "It's not only exceptionally bright students who excel at MMI. We are committed to working with all students on a personal level to help them reach their full potential."

Those planning to attend Visitation Night are asked to register and should arrive before 6 p.m. the night of the event. To register or for more information, contact Whitley at 570-636-1108 or visit www.mmiprep.org.
