Police responded to a report of shots fired shortly at about 8:15 p.m.
They arrived on the scene outside 577 West Maple Street and found two gunshot victims.
One man was lying on the road while another man was leaning against a car.
Police immediately tried to help both shooting victims. "Two of my officers as first responders issued medical attention to both of the individuals until EMS could arrive and take over," said Hazleton Police Chief Frank DeAndrea.
Both shooting victims were taken to area hospitals.
One was reported badly injured while the condition on the other was unavailable.
There was no word late Saturday night on the victims' identities as police tried to solve the double shooting.
