Palmyra Township, Pike County - Whether you live in Mill Hall or Matamoras, Towanda or Turbotville, you could not escape the messy weather on Monday.

From snow in the morning to ice in the afternoon to rain in the early evening, drivers had to deal with a number of changing conditions all day long.

PennDOT crews did the best they could to stay on top of the storm plowing Interstate 84 Monday afternoon. Drivers tried to do the same.

"We've been watching the temperature gauge and hoping that it would go above 32 but it isn't," Terri Cinque of Connecticut said. "It's going up and down."

Cinque was headed from Florida to Connecticut and had to deal with the changing weather.

"It's just poor visibility. We've had fog, icy roads and the salt and everything is going up on the hood."

Trucker driver Michael Jones was on his way from Illinois to Massachusetts and says the ice in northeastern Pennsylvania really slowed him down.

"Everybody's using one lane," Jones said. "Coming down here, I had nine vehicles behind me and I'm doing 50 miles an hour."

A truck fire in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 had traffic down to one lane for part of the afternoon.

No one was hurt but firefighters say the weather made the response more challenging.

"The road conditions were pretty bad. Everything's slick and icy from the snow and the sleet that we've been getting all day," Second Assistant Chief Mike Cozza with the Tafton Fire Department said.
