Police Following Leads in Double Murder In Wilkes-Barre

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County--   Investigators say they are working several leads in the shooting deaths of 42 year old Leroy Smith and 20 year old Jamel Martin of Wilkes-Barre. They were gunned down outside a bar on Scott Street early Thursday morning. A makeshift memorial is now in place on Scott Street. Friends say Smith was a man who tried to help others. District Attorney Stefanie Salavatis said the shootings are not random and says the public should not be worried. She said, "The shooter or shooters knew the individual involved." John Simpson was identified as the victim on Coal Street.He remains in stable condition at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
