12th
There has been a change in the game times for the next two Saturday home games of the Williamsport Outlaws Hockey team. (Jan.12, and Jan. 19). The Outlaws will now face off on the next three Saturdays at 1:05pm. Come enjoy your Saturday afternoons at the Pond at Bowman Field with some good old-fashioned hockey!
January 13th
Community Services for Sight Sweets for Sight is an opportunity taste delicious pastries from area bakeries and restaurants. The tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door all proceeds benefit Community Services for Sight serving Southern Luzerne County, Carbon, and Schuylkill. The event will be held at MEA's Restaurant on Broad Street in Hazleton the event begins at 2 p.m.
"Ski
for Colin" will be held at Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Union Dale, PA

Second Annual March into Reading: Cool Cases for Kids initiative on Monday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hazleton YMCA/YWCA.

March into Reading: Cool Cases for Kids is a community wide movement to help children find their passion for reading.Thirty children will be given their own bookcase, made by students from the Hazleton Area Career Center,and the chance to choose ten books to get them started.

Martin Luther King Jr. Program. The King's community will honor the service and contributions of the late Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, Snyder & Walsh rooms, 11 a.m. - noon. Free.
On
Saturday January 26th the Pine Street MOPS Group will be sponsoring an Education
and Services Expo from 11:00-2:00 at the Pine Street UM Church in Williamsport,
441 Pine Street. Come and explore the different education options and
intervention services that are available in the area for your child. Public
schools, private schools, daycares, preschools and service organizations will be
present. If your school or organization would like to participate contact Sarah

What
better way to start the new year than by giving back to the community.In conjunction with The Salvation Army (Monroe County), Frailey
Insurance and Financial Services are collecting socks for the homeless.Socks should be new; men, women and children sizes in various colors are
needed.The collection starts January 1 through February 8, 2013,
and can be dropped off at their office on Route 611.The socks
will be distributed by the Salvation Army (Monroe County).
Heartbeat 2013 - Dance of the Decades and Costume Contest"
will be held from 6 - 9 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Monsignor McHugh
School auditorium, located at 212 Route 390 in Cresco, PA.Music
from the 50's, 60's , 70's, 80's and
90's.Come dressed in your favorite decade clothes and help
raise money for the school.Tickets are $5 or 5 tickets for $20 in

NAMI Scranton
is looking forward to another year of providing support, education &
advocacy to the NEPA community! The NAMI
Scranton support group meetings are held on the 2nd and
4th Monday of each month from 7-9 pm in the Maternal & Family
Health Geisinger-CMC annex building on Colfax Avenue. This month's
meetings are the 14th & the 28th.
The
Susquehanna River Arts group will have a show
at Artspace Gallery in Bloomsburg, opening on January 17,
2013 and running through Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.
Join participating
artists for a reception with light refreshments on January 19, 2013 from 6 pm
'til 8 pm. Regular gallery hours: Thurs., Fri., and Sat.: noon until 8 pm;
Sun.: noon until 5 pm.
The Susquehanna River Arts group is made up of artists
living in Columbia and Mountour Counties; several different media will be
represented: fiber, clay, painting, photography, mixed media wall pieces and
sculptures, drawing and printing.
The
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Radicals together with New Visions will be having a
Party/Music Show/Fundraiser Auction on Friday January 18th. Money raised will go
to the roller derby teams.A Number of bands will be performing
and there will be an auction of some great items.The fun will be at New Visions Studio & Gallery201 Vine St.

about an evening featuring a mix of jazz standards and original compositions?
The Cooperage Project is proud to announce that the Kazzrie Jaxen
Quartet will be performing live on the Cooperage stage on Saturday, January 19,
2013. The Cooperage is located at 1030 Main Street inThe show
starts at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
The Weis Center for
the Performing Arts at Bucknell University will present three new jazz
shows as part of the spring 2013 Janet Weis Jazz Series. All events are free and
open to the public.
Ccile McLorin Salvant will perform on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center Lobby.
Marianne Solivan Quartet will perform on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center Lobby.
Tia Fuller Quartet will perform on Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre, as part of Lewisburg's Celebration of the Arts
Also at Bucknell University: Jan. 16. Downtown Art Gallery. "Anna Kell: Pentimenti." The exhibition explores the tradition of painting over ornate patterns found on the surface of fabrics, through March 22.
Jan. 16. Samek Art Gallery. "Jim Campbell: At the Threshold." The exhibition includes two mural-scale electronic sculptures and four wall mounted screens, each incorporating the use of technology, cinema and LED light, through March 24.
Jan. 22. Film and Media Studies lecture. "The Visual Effects of "Life of Pi,'" with Bill Westenhofer, 1990 Bucknell alumnus, this year's Academy Award nominee for 'Life of Pi' and Academy Award winner in 2007 for "The Golden Compass," 7:30 p.m., Campus Theatre, Lewisburg. Admission: $2.
