Blakeslee, Monroe County-What is usually considered the slow season at the best western in Blakeslee has turned into one of the busiest weeks of the year.
"It's been crazy! The phones just keep ringing. The maids are doing such a job. They keep trying to do a turnover of the rooms so that when people do get their power on they can... We can have other people come in." said Verene Sanchez of the Best Western Blakeslee Pocono
The past three nights the 85 room hotel has been sold out, providing heat and power to those still living in the dark...
"I have a barbecue with propane gas so I've been heating up water on that. Like, like you know it's like the worst camping trip we've ever been on. That was our joke!" said Donna Provenzano of Hopatcong, New Jersey
Donna Provenzano says power won't be restored at her home in Jersey until Wednesday and she needed to get back into civilization. Even if its just for a night.
"You're completely cut off from the outside world which you've never experienced in our lifetimes." Said Provenzano
Many people Eyewitness News spoke with say they chose the Best Western here in Blakeslee because it's one of the only pet friendly hotels in the area and when the power goes out they weren't about to leave their pets behind.
Bailey is just one of about 25 dogs sleeping each night in what some would now consider luxury. Her owner Bob sommer says he's not going back to Jersey until he's 100 percent certain the lights are on..
"We'll probably wait till the power is on and then wait one more day and then go back." Said Sommer
Managers say everyone has been very patient and understand considering the circumstances
