Teenager Puts Together Storm Relief Drive

Nicholas Wynder Jr. of Scranton says "during the flooding a lot of people lost their personal values and items and we just want to make sure while they are re-building their homes they have stiff to keep them warm."  His mother, Jennifer Megotz, says "he has a great heart and he really goes for it and I just support him 110% in any of the endeavors he chooses to do."

After putting together something similar for flood victims last year, Nicholas decided to do it again, this time there is a little more traveling involved.  "I'm collecting clothes for the people who were flooded in New York and New Jersey and stuff. We are going to set a date and go down there and drop everything off," he says.  From toilet paper and toothpaste to dog and cat food, Nicholas' group is collecting anything they can get their hands on to send to the sandy victims. No donation was too big or too small.

Saturday's collection brought out all types of people including extreme couponer, Ayesha Parker and her son from Mountain Top.  "I have 80 toothpastes to donate. I don't need 80 toothpastes. I need 10 not even" says Parker.  They are sending Nicholas with entire shelves of donations.  Her son Alexander adds "they have been hit pretty hard and everybody needs a helping hand once in a while."

A donation of two trucks and a driver will aid Nicholas in this recovery effort.  As soon as they are filled Nicholas will head east with his hand out.  He says "I have everything I could want. I have a nice home, loving family, and people who got flooded don't have that much anymore, so I just wanted to take some time and get stuff for them so they can have things."

If you missed Saturday's drop-off, you still have a chance to donate.  Nichols and his crew will be collecting items at Riccardo's Supermarket in Dunmore from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday.
