Investigation Continues After Police Van Window is Shattered

Hazleton, Luzerne County-  Eyewitness News was there just after noon-- as heavily armed City and State Police converged on  Fourth and Alter streets in Hazleton.  They were responding to reports of shots fired at this unmarked police van.  A detective was sitting inside the van when the rear window shattered.  He descibred it as the window "exploding'. Police searched several nearby buildings, fearing that a gunman was inside. Streets were also shutdown.. After about an hour the police "stood down"..not finding a gunman...
   Neighbors could not believe what they were witnessing. 
Police chief Frank DeAndrea told the I-Team's Andy Mehalshick they are not sure if the window was shot out or somehow smashed. .They have not found any shell casings The investigation is ongoing
