LEWISBURG, UNION COUNTY-Kia Brouse smiled big for the camera, standing next to this giant polar bear made of ice. She came to Lewisburg with her mom and sister to check out the sparkling ice art that decorates the town for its annual ice festival.Despite the chilly weather, this trio is having a great time together."It's frigid however, we're stopping in and out of stores to get warmed up and then come back out and enjoy the ice sculptures with my daughters." says, Jennifer Brouse.
Families filled the downtown area, admiring the sculptures, created by the award-winning First Night Carvers. Jennifer appreciates the community coming together."Oh, it's just nice to see all the people out and about with their family. It's warming and a small town feel." she adds. The ice festival gave local businesses a boost, while bringing delight to hundreds of eyes. Colin and Aden Rice are having a blast here. Although she may be young, Makenna Kratzer realizes the hard work that went into making these beautiful sculptures."I like all the ice sculptures because i never knew they could do all of this. The polar bear is so big and it took really a lot of detail." she says.
