*Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, December 8, 10:00 a.m., Waverly Community House 1115 N Abington Road in Waverly, Tickets are $10, www.waverlycomm.org.
*The Schuylkill YMCA is hosting its second Breakfast with the Grinch on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8 to 11 a.m., at the Y, 520 N. Centre St., Pottsville.
Guests young and old are invited to take part in this all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage feast that will also feature a North Pole Workshop where youth ages 8 and under can build their very own holiday ornament to hang on their tree. A Grinch's Lair Chinese Auction will also offer clever and unique gift baskets for guests to try their luck.
*Up for a night of Ravioli and Board Games? "Raviolis for Rabiolo" sounds like an interesting night of fun and games. The family and friends of Kathy Rabiolo hope you will join them to help raise funds to help with medical costs for their dear friend, who is battling cancer.
The event will be held today , Saturday, December 8 at Germania Hose Company at 430 Foote Avenue in Duryea from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. Ravioli will be served around 5:00 p.m., along with pizza, salad and desserts.
Donation is $8.00.
If you are unable to attend you can still help out by sending a Donation to The Kathy Rabiolo Benefit Fund, 67 Public Square, Suite 500, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

* Christmas in Our Hometown continues Today (Saturday, December 8) in Tunkhannock-Horse-drawn Wagon Rides Trolley Rides, Ice Sculpture Display, Visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, Strolling Carolers and much more!
* Tri-State Actors Theater and The Pike County Historical Society (PCHS) are sharing the joy and laughter this holiday season with two performances of David Sedaris' merrily subversive tale, THE SANTALAND DIARIES on Saturday December 8th. The Santaland Diaries, starring Nicholas Wilder, was adapted for the stage by Joseph Montello from David Sedaris' best-selling book "Holidays on Ice!" The performance begins at 8:00 pm in the Foundation Room of the PCHS, 608 Harford Street, Milford.
*The Endless Mountains War Memorial Museum In Sonestown is proud to announce the annual Tribute and Remembrance of Pearl Harbor will be held this year on Saturday December 8th from 10 am to 5 Pm.
A grouping of items donated by Carole Fedorchak Underwood in Memory of her late father Michael Fedorchak of Lopez will highlight this years tribute ,held at 109 Main St. in Sonestown. Mr Fedorchak was Sullivan Countys lone survivor of the Japanese attack and was serving with the 55th Coast Artillery when the attack took place.
Among the donated items that will be on display is an original Hawaiian
Newspaper that highlights the attack and was brought home by him.
There will also be films and documentaries of the attack and
other related memorabilia showcased as well.

* The Luzerne County of NE PA Chapter 93, Bereaved Parents of the USA is holding their Annual Candlelight Observance of National Children's Memorial Day on Sunday, December 9th, 2012 at Faith United Church of Christ, 21 Faith Drive (turn at former Rex's) in Hazleton. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and the program and candlelighting service will begin at 7:00 pm. Candles are lit around the world at 7:00 P.M. in every time zone, starting in New Zealand, making a continuous circle of light to remember children who have passed away. This invitation is extended to any parents, grandparents, siblings, other family members and friends who wish to join in honoring the memory of a beloved child or friend at this special time of the year. A candle can be picked up at the table to the left as you enter the church.
The Bloomsburg University Jazz Band is heading to New Orleans to participate in the Crescent City Jazz Festival in March! Join them for an all you can eat pancake breakfast on December 9, 2012 from 8-10 at Applebee's in Bloomsburg to help raise funds! The Little Sisters of the Poor Build Awareness of the
Christian Origin of Santa Claus at Annual December Event
The Little Sisters of the Poor will host their annual St. Nicholas Day party Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. for the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Residents and employees of Holy Family Residence. The event will include a wonderful celebration of St. Nicholas (where Santa Claus originated from) and his devotion of providing gifts to the poor. Some of the activities will include listening to the story of St. Nicholas lovingly read by Resident Catherine Gallagher and enjoying snacks. The highlight of the event will be a special visit from St. Nicholas portrayed by Father E. Francis Kelly, chaplain of Holy Family Residence. All of the children will receive a special gift from the Saint himself!

The Eastern Pike Regional Police Department is hosting its third annual pet food drive to support the Pike County Humane Society. The Drive runs through the end of December citizens may drop off non-perishable pet food items to the police department, located at 10 Avenue in Matamoras.
The Holiday Pet Food Drive is the way to help the non-profit Pike County Humane Society keep up with increasing costs
The annual parade of trees is underway at Grotto Pizza at Harveys Lake . This year 25 trees will be featured. The trees are sponsored by area business and money raised benefits area charities. All you need to do is stop by vote with a monetary donation for your favorite tree.
The Holiday lights at Nay Aug Park in Scranton are now on for the season. You are invited to stop by and enjoy this holiday tradition. Show runs through January 7, 2013. There is no fee, however, donations are accepted
Coming Up:
The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department will present its annual "Holiday Music Program" on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school choruses. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45pm.
The holiday favorite "The Nutcracker" performed by Ballet Northeast at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center located at Wilkes University. Opening night is December 14- runs through December 16- Ticket information 821-8525- info@balletnortheast.org
The Paper Bag Players will present "Saddles and Sunshine", a free family-friendly kids' show, at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m.
Tickets are not required. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
A Live Nativity will be enacted at the Clarks Green Assembly of God on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - December 14, 15 and 16 from 7pm to 9pm. The inn and stable will come alive with actors and animals portraying Jesus' birth. Christmas carols, hot beverages, cookies and a warm fire will be in the fellowship hall. This is a free event gift to the community from the Clarks Green Assembly of God at 204 S. Abington Road, Clarks Green, PA.
Riverside Fourth Grade Chorus presents, The Nutcracker Suite, at 6:30pm on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Riverside High School Auditorium. In this presentation, multiple narrators tell the story of little Clara's dream-like Christmas adventure to the Nutcracker's magical land. Using Tchaikovsky's original music with clever, plot progressing lyrics, this is a true holiday tradition brought to life that will delight audiences of all ages.
If you're looking for something unique and locally made for holiday gifts this year, there's one place to go for all your holiday shopping. New Visions Studio & Gallery hosts "Give the Gift of Art This Holiday Season" for the second year in a row. This is a month-long holiday sale and exhibit featuring 23 local artists
Exhibit dates are December 7 through December 24. New Visions is not normally open on Mondays, but they will be on Christmas Eve December 24th for all of those last minute shoppers. There is an opening reception in conjunction with First Friday Scranton on December 7th from 6pm to 10pm
Christmas Cookie Sale at St. Michael's Orthodox Church on Saturday, December 22 from 9 .m. to noon. The Church is located on North Morris Street in Saint Clair.
