Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill County--    Many people living in Schuylkill Haven say they will not drink their tap water because it has a strong odor and bad taste. Tammy Sukeena from Schumacher Avenue said, "It started about two weeks ago when I was brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth. he smell as so bad and my mouth was burning. I will not drink the water even though they say it is okay to drink!" Sukeena ,like most of her neighbors, are buying and drinking bottled water until the problem is resolved. Borough officials say the problem results from filling storage tanks in anticipation of Superstorm Sandy out of  concern for possible power outages. The reservoirs saw a growth of pollen and algae and that is causing the odor. Borough officials insist the water is safe to drink and they are aggressively treating the water. The D.E.P. is also monitoring the situation.
