Mayor Thomas M. Leighton is encouraging all city residents to attend this Sunday's annual Veterans Day Parade that begins at 2 p.m. on Market Street and Rutter Avenue in Kingston.

The parade route will continue onto South River Street over the Market Street Bridge and then left onto Northampton Street before heading up South Main Street to the reviewing stand that will be positioned near Rodano's Restaurant on Public Square. The parade route will be posted "no parking" beginning at noon and vehicles will be towed if necessary. Traffic will be diverted around parade route starting about 1:30 p.m. until it ends, which lasts approximately two hours.

Mayor Leighton is also encouraging city residents to proudly display the American Flag this weekend as on other patriotic holidays. "This is an opportunity to show the men and women that have protected this country in the Armed Forces and still do to this day our deep gratitude for their service and sacrifice," said the mayor, "As the country remains at war, it is never more important to remember the countless brave Americans that protect the freedom that we enjoy."
