Carbon County to Honor Veterans

The Carbon County Veterans Day Parade and Veterans Memorial Dedication will be held November 11, 2012 in Palmerton. The parade is a 50 year tradition in the county, it hosted by a different community each year.
The Parade in Palmerton will also will also mark the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Palmerton as a Borough. The community will also be dedicating a Veterans Memorial to the Borough of Palmerton. This Memorial will honor all the service men and women that served this country from the Palmerton area over the last 237 years. The Memorial consists of 24 five foot granite stones listing the names of over 4000 service men and women. The six walkways are made of paver bricks honoring service men and women, businesses and individuals.
The dedication will be at 12:00 noon and the parade will start at 2 PM.Grand marshals will be from each of the veterans organizations in the county. Parade consist of members marching or riding from the veterans organizations, emergency response units, local mayors and leaders, township supervisors, high school bands and marching units, girl and boy scouts and entertainment groups
