Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County - First the power went out and now there is no water for people who live in a small borough in Monroe County.  The Delaware Water Gap is now relying on outside help from the Army National Guard.

People living in the Delaware Water Gap say their power went out Monday evening when Sandy blew through and the last of their water was used up Wednesday morning they say they are slowly figuring out how to live without the bare essentials.

Chris Yeaton and Ivory Moore are trying to make the most out of the situation in the Delaware Water Gap.  They're going on day three without power and Wednesday they officially ran out of water.

"We just keep telling ourselves at least we're way better off then Jersey and New York," says Moore.

Superintendent of the Delaware Water Gap, Robert Gallagher, says this is the first time the town has ever been without water.  They need power to fill up the towns well and they can't find a generator anywhere.  "We had an 80,000 gallon water tank completely dry as of this morning. Put everybody in town out of water."

Wednesday evening, the Army National Guard from Easton came to the rescue.  They dropped off water, ice and non-perishable food items for the entire town.  Families are able to stop by the borough building to pick up a case of water a day for as long as it's available.

Charles Cooper, owner of the bakery in town, says the affects of Sandy are very different from any storm he's use to, "Most storms we're pumping water out of the basement and into the creek. This one we're pumping water out of the creek and into the parking lot which is an absolute first."

Coopers says he hooked up a pump to the creek behind his house and started filling buckets of water so people could flush their toilets, "It's a simple basic need!  We had 20 to 30 people show up with their buckets."

The power company has told borough leaders it could be an additional 7-10 days until all of the power is restored in the Delaware Water Gap.
